beyond spatial's profile

Restaurant by the river

Restaurant by the river

To appreciate the scenery, gazing towards a river and the nature beyond, the profile of the restaurant is kept to minimal with the lounge and the vegetable garden sunken to reduce the visual impact. Open kitchen and on-site garden (sunken) at the entrance hinting consumer that the origin of food served is either from the river or locally sourced.

Dramatic on the inside, as opposed to the outside, the restaurant is composed internally of one, big flowing space. This open plan arrangement contains a dining, private lounge, kitchen and garden area. The openness and the lightness rendered from the strip windows and expansive views, combined with the interplay of ceiling heights made the interior feel like it’s part of the landscape, leaving the weather to dictate the ambiance of the restaurant interior depending on the time of the day.

The sunken lounge sits quietly by the restaurant, providing a cozy afternoon spot for the user.
